MY SERVICES

EMPATHY IN ACTION

I shape the future we want to haveβ€”a future with more awareness, compassion, connection, and love.

Through self–compassion and mindful awareness, I help people understand themselves and each other to create systemic impact and reconnect with our shared common humanity. I design worlds that are open, participatory, and peer–driven, where power and agency are shared and built on empathy and trust.

Are you struggling to manage your team, keep up with new innovations and emerging tech, while feeling burnt out, juggling multiple other responsibilities?

Do you find it challenging to keep up with the ever-changing needs and responsibilities of the modern workforce and want a thought partner to help guide you? Look no further!

In today’s complex world, being able to care for your employees and yourself while also evolving your team or organization with efficiency and effectiveness can be a daunting task. That’s where I can come inβ€”I can help you feel centered and grounded, no matter what comes your way, while also helping you to imagine and strategize for a better future.

And what’s even betterβ€”I do it in a way that brings your team into the transformation we seek to make, so they’re invested and can co-create that future, together!

Using a unique mixture of frameworks, coaching, and services I develop a rich context of where you and your organization is now, build your capacity to care for a community, and advance your ideas and impact.

I use four main elements of strategy, culture, structure, and story to make your transformation come alive and bring people along for the ride. My goal is to make you more capable and able to build and scale a nurturing community or movement centered on compassion and change.

Each business has different requirements, and my flexible services are designed to suit your specific needs. Let’s explore together a personalized strategy that can help you and your team thrive.

Challenge: Organizations want to evolve, but they are not sure how.

Transformation requires a movement,

not just a mandate.

Many organizations want a culture steeped in well-being, empathy, and community yet don’t know where to start.

I co-create cultures and systems built on empathy and innovation WITH your organization’s existing workforce. These domains involve two things:

  1. Transformation: both empathy and innovation require personal and organizational transformation.

  2. Context: context gives meaning to everything we think and do, and every culture is different. We must understand culture so we can evolve it.

This work is complex & challenging.

A venn diagram of two terms: empathy and innovation. In the center of the venn diagram are the words transformation and context.

LEADERSHIP COACHING

Empathy is an essential skill, but very few leaders know how to lead with it and create a space of psychological safety.

We’ll explore the macro and micro changes that you can do to cultivate more empathy into your specific workplace, and change it for the better. We’ll explore empathy’s magic power of connection and how you can use it as a magic wand to transform your organization or company.

Through leadership empathy coaching, you'll learn how to:

➞ Lead with empathy, humility, and equity

➞ Harness power, culture, and systems thinking to devise and rethink empathy in the workplace

➞ Shift power to lead with empathy, giving agency to the people going through the change to lead it

WORKSHOP & RETREAT FACILITATION

Meetings, workshops, and retreats come in different flavors - from team building to problem solving and beyond. However, the foundation for every meeting is the same: careful planning up front and skillful facilitation in the moment, led with empathy.

I bring the clarity, structure, and objectivity you need, all with the compassion necessary to build human connection. Our team will take the time to learn about your unique mission, so they can often give advice on the content of the meeting as well.

Run the kind of meeting that you would be excited to attend. At the end of my facilitated meetings or retreats, expect to have:

➞ Stronger working relationships with participants

➞ Reframing of difficult or complicated issues

➞ Clarity on decisions, ownership, & next steps

EMPATHY ACTION LAB

Community + Movement Co-Design

I work with ambitious, purpose-driven change leaders, authors, and organizations to build community and/or drive meaningful transformations. Through my co-design process (see below), I bring clarity and definition to what we’re building, then co-create what might and should be, and finally help you launch, scale, and sustain the work that we’ve built.

I help translate the ideas you have in your head and throughout your organization to create a culture so valuable that people will not want to leave. If you’re an entrepreneur looking to make a deeper impact with your clients, I co-create a community with you that is so well designed it essentially runs itself and valuable people will pay to join.

Whether you’re looking to create a sense of community, inspire a group of peers to take action or change public opinion, I help make a breadth and depth of impact. My proven methods help you:

  • Develop rich context

  • Build capacity

  • Advance ideas & impact

  • Increase efficiencies and effectiveness

  • Co-create and/or monetize your community

Approach

Together, we develop a rich context, advance your ideas and impact into the world and build your capacity to care for a community. I work with you to set the right strategy, culture, structure, and a compelling story, while also leading public experiments to build a movement towards the transformation you seek to make.

I use a mixture of Participatory/Co Design, Lean Startup, Innovation theory processes, and Appreciative Inquiry to create a dialogue so we can co-create the future.

  • The purpose, vision, goals, objectives and overarching strategy of the community design.

  • A system of shared values, practices, and processes that hold the community together and make us interdependent.

  • Clear roles, rules, pathways for growth and governance structure.

  • The narrative, brand, tone, look and feel that inspires people to join the community and take action in their own lives.

Phases

1: Discover & Define

We’ll discover what is our wildest dreams, and work to define the focus of our work. We add clarity and context of the people we’re engaging with, opportunities for growth, and our language.

We’ll appreciate what is: what gives us life and what is the best of what is now?

2: Dream & Design

We dream and design what might and should. We co-construct our reality to uncover our ideal state and culture.

We incubate the strategy and structure and co-create our community design. We train and coach your team while we all learn and grow.

We’ll craft a compelling narrative that we’ll use to help us win hearts and minds towards the change we seek.

3: Destiny

In this final phase, we work to reach our destiny: we launch, scale, and sustain the transformation. We design experiments to validate our assumptions, make and test prototypes, and launch.

We empower those leading the movement, build their capacity, adjust what is working or not working, and improvise with emergent needs of the community. We’ll measure the impact and include continuous learning.

LAUNCHING EMPATHY IN ACTION

What does a 21st century organization look like? Who is in it? How do we look, how do we work, and how do we feel? These are all questions that can be answered by the wisdom that you already have within your organization.

Part visioning exercise and part action planning, this workshop will guide you through the Empathy in Action Framework (see right) and Canvas to co-create what this ideal culture looks like with you and your colleagues.

We’ll redesign and rethink the power, systems, and culture around us to make us work more efficiently and effectively, leading to better outcomes and better profits. Our work will give you a roadmap for redesigning a system that works for everyone, not just the few.

In this workshop your team will:

➞ Learn a whole body approach to redesign and recenter your culture that is ready to take on future challenges

➞ Understand and commit towards meeting the needs of each other in service of your work

HEALING FOR WORK: A PROGRAM & COMMUNITY

Studies have shown that we’re emerging from the pandemic worse off than when we entered it, resulting in burnout and plunging efficiency and profits. Burnout has been proven to block empathy.

Healing for Work (HFW) is program and community specifically designed for professionals who are suffering from burnout to sustainably recover and gather with authentic support in a safe and secure environment. Hand-selected cohorts learn new tools to support their mental health and share stories of successful implementation in their environments.

We teach you Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and how to integrate its learnings into your own life to put this work into action within the workplace. We focus on the Three Rs Recovery Framework: Regulation, Relationships, and Resilience. Our inaugural program has been designed specifically for K-12 educators to put into practice strategies proven to foster deeper connection to ourselves, build better relationships with colleagues, and to create deep resiliency within ourselves.

This coaching circle guides you in building a movement of people making well-being a priority in a safe environment inside your company or organization.

EMPATHY FOR CHANGE: A BOOK & ACTION CLUB

Following along with my book Empathy for Change: How to Create an Understanding World, this play on a book club focuses on taking action in our own lives in accordance with learnings I have researched and collected in her years working with individuals to transform their company culture.

This four-part series is be a series of dialogues to go deeper into the concept of empathy to put it into action in our teams and organizations. Each of the sessions will explore one question:

  • Our Empathic Ability: How do we show up now and what is limiting our ability to have empathy?

  • Our Empathy Deficit: How might we understand our world’s empathy deficit?

  • Learning Empathy for Change: How might we learn new skills and unlearn old ones?

  • Empathy in Action: How might we put what we learned and turn it into action?
